    Hello,

I got a question: the Repertoire CD Frijid Pink REP5242 – a sampler, includes Tracks, known from 1969 (Nr. 4), 1970 (5,6) 1971 (7) and 1972 Nr. (8), but I can't find any hint, when the rmaaining tracks (14 at all) are produced or recorded. Can you help me, please?

    • Chuck Mangus said on Jun 5, 2014 8:35 am

John ~~The CD is not a sampler, all song were rerecorded in the Frijid Pink studio. Life Unlived, Feein’ Down, Bad News, State Line Boogie and Something To Prove were brand new songs at the time of release. Watch for our new CD ” Made in Detroit ” in about 2 weeks.

      Thank you for the comment!

I'm a Brazilian man and I'm deeply in love with "Crying Shame", from the debut album, but my english isn't good enough to understand the singing… I've figured out a good part of the music, but can't figure out the rest and it's driving me insane.

A complete lyric of Crying Shame (and the other works) could be very useful for non english speakers.

    I'm very grateful.

    Abraços!

Yal are simply the best. What other concerts do you have planned besides Dec. 20? I’d like to make a special trip from Chicago to see yal play. BIG FAN 🙂

    • Chas said on Nov 19, 2014 12:21 am

      Miss Alex white,
It’s good to hear that you like our music! Please let your friends know about us too! As you may know, music promotion is not easy to come by these days and so, being a concert oriented band, we’re not gig-heavy at this point in time. But we are in the studio and have started recording our next album, ‘On The Edge’. Our current album ‘Made In Detroit’ was just released on 33 and 1/3 vinyl LP record. We do hope to play in Chicago at some point. There are some irons in the fire and we’re doing what we can to stoke the flames! Again, great to hear from you. Keep an eye on our ‘events’ tab and hopefully you’ll see more dates in the future.
      Best Regards,
      Chas

Does the vinyl come with a digital download? Any way to order signed copies for my personal collection?

    • Chas said on Feb 12, 2015 8:49 am

      Hi Erik,
Thank you for your correspondence. The vinyl LP does not include a digital download. Digital versions of our music are being handled by Amazon, emusic, itunes, etc.
We’d be happy to autograph an LP for your collection.
      Keep rockin’ the vinyl!

Where did the band name come from?

Frijid Pink is my favorite band, together with Iron Butterfly.

    I love you guys.

    • Chas said on Jun 23, 2015 5:10 pm

      Sitting_Bull,

Thanks for the question and the answer is not short but will try to abbreviate.

The band name came from a white frigidair refrigerator, basically, and a pink bathroom, and a bottle of whisky. Add the other details yourself!

      Regards,
      Rick

Did the band ever play the filmore east or west? What ever happened to the rest of the band?

      Mr. Lowe,

Thanks for the note. Never at the Filmore. The rest of the old band is still in the area doing their own thing.

      Chas

I, as stated above I am Ken Fell and in the early 70’s was good friends with the band. At that time, I was in a band playing bass with Jim Budi and Cari Dayton and was very good friends with Satch. I would like very much to get a hold of Tom and wonder if you could be so kind as to give me his email address so that I may contact him and say hi.
Thank you very much and continued success in your endevours.

I saw the band in Birmingham, Al. in 1970. Seems I met a guy named Satch (?) He is not mentioned here anywhere. What happened to him?

    • Chas said on Jan 26, 2016 6:01 pm

      Hi Audrey,

Satch is still hanging around the area but is playing with his own group, “Audio Band”. BTW, his name is Tom Harris.

I just got my turntable fixed after 20 years of being broke. First thing I did was put on my original copy of ‘Frijid Pink’ and it brought back all those memories from the 70’s. Like so many Detroit area bands of the day, most were just a small step away from national stardom. That album is still one of the best ever made. I would get home from school, play my 45’s and practice my drums with “House” being played 3 or 4 times in a row. absolutely the best version of “House” ever…thanks, guys.

    • Chas said on Jan 26, 2016 6:04 pm

    Hey Guys
I remember being at a Frijid Pink 1970 concert in Sydney Australia. An outdoor gig I think at the cricket ground. A bit Cold and wet? Winter down here.
I think it was the week after Jimi Hendrix died. May 1970.
Your band played a tribute song for Jimi, of Hey Joe.
    Deeply impressed
Can anyone remember this except me.
Did you share the gig with other bands, or a solo tour.
Can’t find any info on your early Australian tours.
Please ask the band members, about this Event, and early Aussie Tours. Cheers Aaan.

Asked on Twitter, but gonna ask here also: Is there a long, or extended version of House of the Rising Sun available somewhere? That is like 10 minutes, or maybe even longer? My dad says he once heard it on the radio, and tried to find it, but can’t. I also tried looking at various online shops, but no luck. So I guessed, maybe there is a recorded version that is not available online? So all, in all, if there is a longer version that is available anywhere, online or physical, I would like to buy it for my dad 🙂

    Hi Rick,
Good to see you are still rocking the Frijid Pink sound 50 years later. Not many still are. I go way back to meeting you in ’66 when our band the Mass Confusion battled the Detroit Vibrations in Allen Park. Later I played one gig with you in Brighton? when the guitaist didn’t want to play.
Next time I saw you was in ’74 when my band Toe Jam opened for you at the Lincoln Park theater. Still have some posters for that. After going to Nashville for a few gigs wound up in Texas for a couple years then back in Michigan in a band called Gandalf 77-78.
Got out of music for 20 years then Then played bass in a christian band Soteria with 1 CD and a website.
Last time I saw you was at the Gibralter Trade Center music revival with all the Detroit greatest artists signing autographs. Well I hope I run into you again or see you play the House of the Rising Sun somewhere. Best regards!

  • Chas said on Apr 5, 2020 8:51 am

Hi, I was at the gig in Sydney in 1970. It was in September, the day after Jimi Hendrix died, It was a double bill with Frijid Pink, whose ‘House of the Rising Sun’ was getting good airplay and McKenna Mendelson Mianline who were a Canadian blues band with an album out called ‘Stink’. Unfortunately, they did not show so it was only Frijid Pink that played but it was a great gig and our disappointment at not seeing two bands was soon forgotten. Great to see you guys are still going.
